Often, without an experienced eye, it can be hard to tell the tell the difference between laminate flooring and a real wood floor. Cheap laminate on the other hand, is usually be void of texture, and uses low-quality/ low resolution décor paper, making it look very artificial.

Why would someone use laminate flooring instead of click vinyl plank? This would be the most natural comparison to make, since both are floating floors and often have similar locking systems. Floating floors are any type of flooring that is not fastened to the subfloor beneath it. The flooring stays in place once locked together simply from the locking system and the weight of the product.

 Vinyl plank flooring is often great option, depending on your needs. Vinyl plank flooring is easy to install with minimal tools. It’s also great when a waterproof floor is desired or needed, most vinyl plank flooring provides more peace of mind when it comes to spills and splashes. Vinyl plank flooring is also great for homeowners with pets that are prone to accidents, like puppies or older pets. However, keep in mind no matter how waterproof your flooring product is, the subfloor underneath can still be damaged causing the need for your flooring to be removed.

Will laminate flooring separate?

Separation between the short ends of laminate joints is a problem that is almost always caused by using a poor-quality laminate and/or incorrect installation. When climatized and installed correctly, quality laminate flooring will not separate.

How water resistant is the water-resistant laminate flooring you sell?

Typically, most spills are easily contained on top of the floor and do not seep under or into the core. We’ve done testing in our warehouse, and the laminate flooring we sell clearly exceeds expectations.  If the spill stays on top, typically it can far exceed the 24-hour spill and splash rating that the flooring has. As a best practice, we recommend cleaning up spills immediately to avoid any water damage, regardless of the type of flooring you have.

What does laminate flooring cost?

The price range for good quality laminate flooring is about two to five dollars per square foot. Most of the in-stock laminate flooring we carry sells for $2.99 per square foot, plus the cost of a good underlayment (usually from $0.35 to $0.50 a square foot.
