Frequently asked questions

Is vinyl plank actually waterproof?

Most LVT and SPC vinyl planks are fully waterproof through the body of the plank. Standing water at the seams over a long period can still cause issues, so we recommend caulking around tubs and sinks.

What is the difference between LVT and SPC?

Both are luxury vinyl. LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) has a flexible core and feels a bit softer underfoot. SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) has a rigid mineral core that is harder, more dent-resistant, and better at hiding subfloor imperfections.

Where can I install vinyl plank flooring?

Almost anywhere in your home, including basements, bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms. Avoid full-sun three-season rooms, where extreme temperature swings can affect the planks.

How thick should the wear layer be?

For residential use look for a 12 mil wear layer or higher. Busy households, rentals, and commercial spaces should step up to 20 mil or 28 mil for longer life.

Does vinyl plank work with radiant in-floor heat?

Yes, most modern vinyl planks are rated for radiant heat up to 27 to 29 degrees Celsius at the floor surface. Always confirm with the specific product spec sheet.
