Hearthwood Hickory is a hickory look from the Fuzion Bavaria collection, a 12 mm German-style laminate with an AC5 wear rating, the highest residential durability class. Hickory grain gives it more contrast and movement. The 7-3/4" x 51" planks have an embossed-in-register texture and a painted 3DGE bevel for a realistic plank look. They float on, above or below grade with the 1Clic2Go Pure+ joint and are suitable for hydronic radiant heat. CARB II and FloorScore certified, with a limited 30-year residential warranty and 15-year limited light commercial wear warranty. 16.22 sq. ft. per carton.
Modern laminate is highly water-resistant and shrugs off everyday spills when wiped up promptly. Our standard AquaTeck laminate carries 24-hour water resistance, and the Premium lines step up to 72-hour protection thanks to a denser, high-resin core.
How thick should my laminate be?
Thickness does not determine how long a laminate floor lasts — that comes down to the wear layer and AC rating. What thickness does give you is stronger joints, a more solid underfoot feel, and a more stable locking system. AquaTeck laminate is a robust 12 mm for exactly those reasons. There is no need to “size up” for commercial use; choose based on feel and subfloor, then match the AC rating to your traffic.
What is an AC rating on laminate?
The AC (Abrasion Class) rating measures a laminate’s resistance to wear and traffic. Most quality laminate today — including AquaTeck — is AC4, which is rated for light-to-medium commercial use and is more than enough for any home. AC5 is reserved for heavy commercial traffic. The AC rating, not the plank thickness, is what tells you how the floor will hold up.
Does AquaTeck laminate come with underlay attached?
No — and that is on purpose. Rather than bonding a thin, generic foam to the back of every plank, AquaTeck leaves it off so you can choose the right pad for the job. For most installs we recommend a 3 mm high-density EVA underlay with an attached moisture barrier, which cushions the floor, quiets it down, and protects against subfloor moisture.
Will laminate work over my concrete basement slab?
Yes, as long as you use an underlay with a moisture barrier (our recommended 3 mm high-density EVA covers this). Our installers handle basement installs across Edmonton regularly.
Are matching trims and stair pieces available?
Yes. AquaTeck offers matching reducers, T-mouldings/transitions, and stair nosings for its laminate colours so transitions, doorways, and stairs finish cleanly. Ask us to add the pieces you need to your quote.
